WHERE IS MY TOE?

This is a great campfire ghost story. It isn't really an Asian ghost story per se but details can be changed here and there (like I've changed the name, to make it slightly more Asian) to make it suit any occasion. All you need is imagination!

Once upon a time, there lived a man called Lim. Lim was one of the most miserly people who ever lived, almost like Scrooge. He was rich, but lived like a poor man, hoarding his money, instead of spending it. He bought only the bare necessities, and allowed himself no extravagance, no luxury.

One day, Lim was on his way to buy a piece of chicken chicken, as he was all out of any kind of meat. On his way to the store, he passed a playground. Looking to the ground, just in case he saw a dropped coin, he suddenly came across something very unexpected.

What normal people like you and I would see is a very dirty, very moldy, very human-looking big TOE! What do you think Lim was seeing? He saw FOOD! He thought to himself: That is a huge piece of meat! Why, it can feed me for a fortnight! A month even!

Abandoning his plans to go buy chicken, he just picked up the toe, popped it into his pocket and headed off merrily home.

As soon as he arrived at his creaking wooden stilt house, he started preparing the toe for dinner. He made it into some kind of stew and ate the toe, one small spoonful at a time. He had intended to stop at one small bowl that night, but the stew was so delicious, he couldn't help himself. For once, Lim couldn't control himself and ate the stew up greedily, to the point of even licking the bowl and saucepan he had used.

Feeling full for he first time he remembered, Lim retired to bed feeling quite satisfied.

That night, Lim woke up suddenly. He had always been a light sleeper, one ear seemed to be open to listen for potential burglars. That night was no exception.

He listened silently, to find out what had awakened him. He heard a thump on the stairs leading to his house. There seemed to be a faint voice, the wind maybe? He asked himself doubtfully.

Listening ever more carefully, he listened for the voice, trying to catch the words. The thumps continued to move up the stairs slowly, one step at a time. The voice got louder the nearer the footsteps were. He could make out the words at last! A deep voice was moaning: "Wheerrrrre iiiiissss mmmmyyy toooooeeee?'

The footsteps got nearer still. It seemed that it was right at the top of the stairs! "Wheerrrrre iiiiissss mmmmyyy toooooeeee?" Shaking in fear, Lim hid under his blanket.

His bedroom door creaked open. "Wheerrrrre iiiiissss mmmmyyy toooooeeee?" The thumping footsteps got closer and closer each time, with the voice moaning "Wheerrrrre iiiiissss mmmmyyy toooooeeee?" with each step.

Closer and closer it came, until it was right at the side of the bed. "Wheerrrrre iiiiissss mmmmyyy toooooeeee?"

At this point, your audience should be listening breathlessly, providing you told the story right and they haven't heard it before :P Grab the person nearest to you as you shout out the next line:

"YOU HAVE IT!!!"

Guaranteed screams I tell ya! With some very interesting reactions, hehe.
